What is Hole-In-One Insurance?

Monday, June 8th, 2009

It is a type of insurance purchased by a golf tournament host or sponsor that reimburses the tournament organizers for the cost of awarding a prize in the event that a participant scores a hole-in-one.  Tournaments offer expensive prizes for scoring a hole-in-one because the odds of an amateur golfer hitting a hole-in-one are about 1 in 12,500.  The prize usually promotes a tournament sponsor.  For example; if a car dealership is a sponsor of the tournament the hole-in-one prize might be a new car.  The contract between the tournament and the insurance company will detail several rules about which holes of the course are insured and how to verify that the hole-in-one was scored validly.  There are several variables that affect the cost of the insurance, some of which are the number of participants, skill level of the participants, length of the insured hole and the prize offered.

Prizes for Everyone

Monday, June 8th, 2009

If you are organizing a golf tournament, prizes are an integral thing. All different types of prizes are awarded for several different categories of awards.  Some category ideas are longest or shortest drive, longest putt, best overall score, closest to the hole, hole in one, highest team score.  If your tournament is for fun its always good to have gag awards like worst overall score, most golf balls lost, or, always a favorite, worst golf outfit  You should pick several different types of prizes to award to all those who attend.  For family events, be sure to choose prizes for all ages.  Trophies are always a good idea for those who actually rank in the tournament.  Some other prize ideas are bags, t-shirts, towels, coolers, umbrellas, hats, water bottles, golf head covers, ball markers or golf balls.  Putting the name and date of the tournament on the prizes make them fun memorabilia.

Sponsoring a Charity Golf Tournament

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Putting together a golf tournament is a great way to gather friends, family and community together at once.  Everyone participating always enjoys themselves and it is a great way to raise money for charities.  Choosing to sponsor a charity golf tournament is a good business move for several different reasons.  One of the most beneficial things from sponsoring a tournament is all the inexpensive advertising and exposure your business will get.  There will be advertising before, during, and after the event usually with fliers, banners, newspaper ads and on the tournament’s website.  Your business name will also be published in the tournament program.  As a sponsor you can donate cash, prizes and awards, giveaways, food or anything else the tournament might need.  Sponsoring a charity golf tournament shows your company’s support for that organization or cause.  It helps to raise your business profile in the community and shows your philanthropic side.

If you’re not #1 you’re….with everybody else.

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Not everyone can be #1 of the tournament and stand up on a podium holding a huge presentation check and a bright shiny trophy, though I’m sure we all wish we could. Yet, since that scene will mostly likely remain a fantasy for us average folk, a nice thing called a recognition award exists. An “you didn’t make it all the way to the top, but you sure tried” award, if you will. It is the type of golf award that can bring a smile to several peoples faces and not just jealous glares at the first place trophy. So, if you are planning on putting together a golf tournament any time soon don’t forget that the awards are what everyone is working for and recognition awards are sometimes more cherished than the 1 st place ones.
