If you’re not #1 you’re….with everybody else.

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Not everyone can be #1 of the tournament and stand up on a podium holding a huge presentation check and a bright shiny trophy, though I’m sure we all wish we could. Yet, since that scene will mostly likely remain a fantasy for us average folk, a nice thing called a recognition award exists. An “you didn’t make it all the way to the top, but you sure tried” award, if you will. It is the type of golf award that can bring a smile to several peoples faces and not just jealous glares at the first place trophy. So, if you are planning on putting together a golf tournament any time soon don’t forget that the awards are what everyone is working for and recognition awards are sometimes more cherished than the 1 st place ones.

Also, a silkscreened imprint in the foreground adds more dimension to the plaque. Plaque size is 8” x 10” x 3/8” and comes with an easel back and wall hanger.

What Makes a Golf Course Successful?

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Some things to consider first include the course’s condition. It should be kept in best condition possible depending on funds and weather. The staff should be friendly. The practice facilities should be as good as the course if possible. The speed of play MUST be kept reasonable. If it causes a problem you should mark the cards or various tee’s about how long it should have taken you to get there. Etiquitte must be observed/enforced. Some things can dilute a little like dress codes but a decent level should be maintained.

Up Cock Vs Back Cock Wrists

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

In the conventional approach (up cock) the toe of the club is pointed up in the so called square position and in the non-conventional approach (back cock) the toe is rotated about 45 degrees toward the target line which would normally be considered very close. But in the up cock approach the club face has to be rotated by the forearms or other means to actually square the face during the move to impact whereas in the back cock approach no rotation is required because the face is always square to the target line. So perhaps this is the reason to consider using it. Accuracy for irons and woods is much improved with less reliance on tempo because that last .001 second rotation to square the face is not required.

Tiger’s March To $1 Billion

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Tiger surpassed the $100-million mark in career winnings and topped $750 million in overall career earnings. Tiger remains not only the dominant player in the game and the premier cash cow in all of sports, but he has also pulled his colleagues into prosperity. It’s good to be king in golf, but it’s not bad to be a prince or princess, either. Just 20 years ago, Curtis Strange became the first golfer to win $1 million in a season. In 2007, 158 players passed that milestone: 99 on the PGA Tour, 15 on the Champions Tour, seven LPGA Tour players and 37 from assorted tours. In 1996, the year Woods turned pro, nine players won $1 million on the PGA Tour, Tom Lehman leading at almost $1.8 million and No. 125 pulling in nearly $170,000.
