Host a Golf Tournament!

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

When hosting a golf tournament, it is essential to include a variety of special touches to make your event the best. One idea is by creating special plates or cups for the food you plan to provide. You can even create tournament tea bags, where the packaging displays the tournament name and date. Tournament tea bags are a fun and unique way to create a special event for your guests and participants. Personalizing your event will not only make it special, but also memorable to your guests and participants.

Another way to have a great tournament is by inviting special guests. Inviting top people in the golf world or in the sports arena is a sure-fire way to have an event that will be talked about for years to come! It would be wonderful to invite the top greats in the world of golf such as Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson. Inviting other celebrities could also help to increase the visibility of the tournament.

Promoting the tournament as a charity event is also another idea that can be used to increase participation. Celebrity endorsements are more likely if it is for charity and participants and guests are more willing to pay a higher admission price.

Golf tournaments are fun events to host and provide superb entertainment for the entire family to enjoy!

Greenside Bunker Shots

Monday, December 15th, 2008

A greenside bunker shot is the only shot in golf where we are not hitting the golf ball. The club enters the sand before the ball and flies out of the bunker on a cushion of sand. In essence we are simply hitting behind the ball and fatting the shot. The secret to making this happen is in the set-up and swing dynamic.  Bunker shots scare many amateur players, but it’s quite simple.  In the set-up,

  •  Play the ball forward of center
  •  Dig the feet in
  •  Do not choke down.

This combination insures that our club will hit the sand before the ball.Swing dynamic is another huge factor in successfully executing greenside bunker shots. Golfers focus 2 to 3 inches behind the ball and find they have a difficult time hitting there. Focusing behind the ball can destroy good swing dynamics and usually leads to poor contact. Instead the golfer’s focus should be on swinging through the ball, much like a pitch shot, relying on the set-up to produce the proper contact with the sand.Source : http://www.pga.com/
